ARLINGTON, Texas - Texas Rangers career hits leader Michael Young has been appointed as a special assistant to the general manager. The Rangers traded Young to Philadelphia after the 2012 season, and he split 2013 with the Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers before announcing his retirement last January in a news conference at the Rangers ballpark.The 38-year-old Young will work with general manager Jon Daniels and his staff in all areas of baseball operations.
